Aozora X Capcom: The Ultimate Tournament is a second collaboration anime combining a few of Capcom and Aozora's games and anime series. The series was written by Masahiko Nakahira and Akira Jotaro and directed by Akira Jotaro.
The story is set in a fictional unnamed city in Japan where many street brawls occur often, mainly around high school students. The story is about Sakura Kasugano, Hinata Wakaba, andHinamori Raikuro in their normal school days and then joining a new fighting tournament called AxC.

After accidentally bumping into some unwanted trouble, Hinata Wakaba was scared and tried to fight back but couldn't because she was outnumbered were 6 to 1. After noticing the punks trying to attack Hinata, Hinamori Raikuro had appeared and knocked out two of the six punks, temporarily stopping the assault. Once the two who were knocked out had gotten up, Sakura Kasugano had made her appearance and knocked them back out; with all three of them, the odds were now 6 to 3. After beating the six punks, Hinata and Sakura had introduced themselves to Hinamori, and as they continued to talk with each other, they had forgotten about school and had not noticed that they were late until they were talking about the schools they go to. The next day, they had all met each other again, and this time, they had noticed a poster about a new 3-on-3 tournament called the AxC, and had decided to join as a team to aim for the top.

Hinata Wakaba[]
- The "Whirlwind School Girl". She is a smart girl who excels in almost all kinds of sports. Her proficiency in hand-to-hand fighting is said to be at par with those who compete at the national level. It is revealed that she received her training via correspondence course, but the identity of her trainer remains undisclosed. Being a very curious girl, she just can't keep still, and would often run around off campus after school. She can be sometimes be a bit of a smart-aleck because of her winning spirit; but other than that, she is a cheerful and lively person who lives the usual life of a modern schoolgirl. She is voiced by Tomoe Hanba.
Hinamori Raikuro[]
- The "Lightning Princess". She is a tomboyish girl who only excels in sports and other PE activities. Like Hinata, her fighting is said to be at par with those who compete at national level, but her's might even be better. Being a slacker in school, she would often be late and sometimes try to ditch school. She is a lively person who likes to get into fights. She is voiced by Chiaki Omigawa.
Sakura Kasugano[]
- She is one of the childhood friends of Hinata. She is like Hinamori in many ways; excelling in sports, slacking off in class, liking baseball, etc.; so she gets along with Hinamori very well. She had taught herself how to fight by imitating Ryu's fighting style and was also taught by Dan. She is voiced by Misato Fukuen.

- The creator of the AxC fighting tournament. He is a man who wishes to become the strongest living man in the world, which is why he created the AxC tournament, so he could copy the skills of all the strongest contestants and use them to become the strongest. He is an easy-going man with an ambition to be the strongest. He is voiced by Fumihiko Tachiki.

- Ryu Hoshi - A traveler who participated in the Street Fighter tournaments. He is admired by Sakura and is also a fighter. He is voiced by Hiroki Takahashi.
- Ken Masters - The friend of Ryu and another participant of the Street Fighter tournaments. He had also joined the AxC tournament to once again aim for the top. He is voiced by Yuji Kishi.
- Karin Kanzuki - The rival of Sakura and the heir to the uber-rich Kanzaki family. She had joined the AxC tournament to be able to settle her score with Sakura. She is voiced by Junko Minagawa.
- Dan Hibiki - The self-proclaimed master of Sakura. He has joined the AxC tournament to be able to sponsor his dojo due to his failures in the Street Fighter tournaments. He is voiced by Toshihiko Seki.
- Kei Chitose - Sakura's best friend. While she is an average schoolgirl and utterly opposed to Sakura's hobby of street fighting, she accompanies Sakura on her quest to become the greatest street fighter. She is voiced by Nana Mizuki.
- Natsu Ayuhara - One of Sakura and Hinata's childhood friends. She is a popular volleyball player from Gorin High. She is voiced by Narumi Tsunoda.
- Fei Long - A Chinese movie star who came to Japan to join the AxC tournament to test his skills as a fighter. He is voiced by Yuuichi Nakamura.
- Edmond Honda - More commonly known as E. Honda, he is a sumo wrestler who had joined the AxC tournament just for entertainment. He is voiced by Masashi Sugawara.
Aozora[]
- Ryo Sakurai - The rival and childhood friend of Hinamori. He joins the AxC tournament because of his hobby of fighting. He is voiced by Satoshi Hino.
- Ryuunosuke Emaki - A kabuki actor who looks as if he has no emotions when he is off stage. He joins the AxC tournament for the same reason as Ryo. He is voiced by Isshin Chiba.
- Spear 1.5 - A humanoid robot created by the S.U.H. tournament as a participant. It was put into the AxC tournament to test the mechanics the technology. It is voiced by Tomokazu Sugita.
- Ryoko Kazama - A girl from Odakyo who enjoys watching fights. She became friends with Hinamori, Sakura, and Hinata after meeting them. She is voiced by Emiri Kato.
- Kaito Murasame - Ryoko's childhood friend who traveled with her. He is often ignored by Sakura and the others when he is around them. He is voiced by Jun Fukuyama.
- Jack Long - A Chinese movie star who came to Japan to make a movie for his upcoming film but had changed his plans when he saw a poster for the AxC tournament and joined the AxC tournament instead. He is voiced by Kenjiro Tsuda.
- Wataru Taro - A sentry agent of the S.U.H. who was sent to join the AxC tournament to investigate it. He is a friend of Hinamori and Ryo. He is voiced by KENN.
- Kai Musashibo - A famous sumo wrestler and friend of Hinamori. He joins the AxC tournament and became the rival of E. Honda. He is voiced by Shouto Kashii.
