Art of War: Full Metal Guardian is an anime that was written, directed, and created by Akira Jotaro who also created the anime Armored Arena, Swinging!, and Ninja Gakuen Taisen.

The story is set in modern Japan in a fictional school called Tomoe High School, where many incidents seem to happen, mostly caused by one single student. The story is about a young mercenary soldier who had just became a general after just joining and is then sent out on a mission with comrade to protect an idol with a strange ability.

The fearless and almost emotionless adopted son of the Ghost Wolf military mercenaries' leader, Daisuke Hasashi, was just put into Ghost Wolf and had immidiately became a general. After his first mission had ended, Daisuke had succedded but had sacrificed three lives in the process towards their victory and he had showed no emotion at all after their deaths, making Akos Dragonov, a Ghost Wolf soldier, angry enough to point a gun at Daisuke's head. Showing no fear with a gun next his face, Daisuke had told Akos to shoot if he had wanted to, but he did not. A day after the mission, Daisuke and Sakura Hidari, the youngest and only other Japanese soldier in Ghost Wolf, had recieved a mission to protect a girl named Kasumi Amane, a popular idol who was born with an ability to temperarly stop time, but doesn't know it. Once Daisuke and Sakura's mission was debriefed, they were sent to Tomoe High School, a Japanese school for rich people. Now that their mission had began, they now are students of Tomoe High School and must protect Kasumi from terrorists who know about her abilities.

Main Protagonists[]

Daisuke Hasashi[]

An almost emotionless and 17 year-old military mercenary who was adopted by the Ghost Wolf leader, Nomura Hasashi. Before he was a mecenary, he was an orphan in Hong Kong who's parents were murdered in front of his eyes and he was taken in by Nomura a week later after he robbed Nomura. He is very secretive and always says to people "Classified information" after they ask a question which tells something he doesn't want people to know about. The only activity that truly gives him joy is art, making the only time he ever smiles is when he is making art. For an unexplained reason, he has a habit of taking out weapons out of nowhere, making everyone unsure of what he is going to do next. He had recieved special military training by Nomura for 10 years and had enlisted into Ghost Wolf when he was 17 even though he was already living in the Ghost Wolf base. Due to being a year older than his classmates, his information says that he is originally from China even though he is Japanese and had missed a year of school. He does not know it, but he had became Tomoe High School's most popular and feared student in the first week he had attended. He is voiced by Yuichi Nakamura.

Sakura Hidari[]

A 16 year-old girl and the only Japanese in Ghost Wolf other than Daisuke and Nomura Hasashi. She is the youngest soldier in Ghost Wolf because of her parents being former Ghost Wolf members. She was born and raised as a regular girl in Japan but had recieved military training after she had enlisted into Ghost Wolf when she was in middle school. She was partnered with Daisuke after they had recieved their mission and had gotten a small crush on him after just meeting him for the first time. She also carries around concealed weapons like Daisuke except she doesn't take out weapons from impossible places or carry around huge firearms such as an RPG-7 in a small bag. She often overreacts when Daisuke brings out weapons in public. She is voiced by Yui Horie.

Kasumi Amane[]

A popular 16 year-old pop idol who is popular for her song "Hold My Hands". She attends Tomoe High School, a private school for rich and smart students. She does not know that Daisuke and Sakura's mission are to protect her, making her think that they are just more of her stalking fans until she had found out that they were military mercenaries. She had began to develop a crush on Daisuke after he had saved her life from a robber who had tried to rob the restaurant they were in. She was born with a ability to temperarly stop time, this is a psychic ability known as chronokinesis and was labeled as a dangerous ability if it is in the wrong hands; she does not know about her own psychic power. She is voiced by Rie Kugimiya.

Main Antagonist[]

Chien Tranh[]

A middle-aged Vietnamese man who used to work for a terrorist organization known as Million before he had killed them all. He has a habit of going kill-happy when he is in battle, killing anyone that he sees, enemy or ally. He had found out about Kasumi and her ability after hearing a report about a failed terrorist attack trying to take her, so knowing this, he thinks she might be able to be of some use if he could obtain her psychic ability for himself. He only wishes to kill and create chaos until he dies. He is voiced by Masashi Ebara.

War Armors[]

Military robot units that are about twice the size of a regular adult human and has over five times the strength of an average body builder. There are currently two versions of the W.A. suits; a W.A. v2 is better suited for battle and is upgraded with automatic target lockers and lighter, but weaker, armor. Only Daisuke and Sakura have version 3 W.A.s, but they have been customized to match their tactics and ways of fighting.
