Introduction[]
This story takes place after Korra's death of old age and the birth of a new Avatar. An Earthbender. The setting is Ba Sing Se where our 2 main characters, Kenneth Baam and Kai Arlyn, are in a school for benders while something very secretive is going on between a famous bender and the most important people to him. He seems to be gathering very important people to unite this world into a big nation, but what is really going on here?
In a school placed in Ba Sing Se[]
Kenneth is walking down the hall and enters his class where there is an instructor. They go to a large court.
Teacher: Okay guys! We will now focus on flowing your chi through your body. Everyone get into the stance and get ready to let the chi flow into you.
Kenneth: *Hmph...*
Kai: Gets into a strong Earthbending stance *This is gonna be boring*
Teacher: Okay, start!
Kenneth: He gets into a squatted position and starts running his fingers down his own arm, then the other fingers down his other.
Teacher: Wow, Kenneth! That's really good. With that perfect demonstration, you should be able to summon something!
Kai: *Ken? Oh. That Firebender prodigy. Pftt, what a show off* He holds both his arms out to the left with his hands against each other. He holds out two fingers and moves his arms over him to the right side of his body *Did that even work?!?*
Suddenly you hear a crackling sound and then when everybody looks over at Kenneth, lightning starts to generate around his arms, then his body is surrounded.
Teacher: Whoa! Kenneth, you can generate lightning?? Everybody watches in amazement as he holds a lightningbending stance similar to Azula's in the last episode of the series, and he shoots it up at the sky, away from everybody.
Kenneth: Whew... Sorry...
Teacher: It's fine, Kenneth, just be sure to not point it at anybody. Anyway, how is everyone else doing?
Kai: Huh. Lightningbender. *All right, my time to shine* Kai channels his chi around to his hand then condenses the water in the air and releases a cloud of vapour around the atmosphere, blocking everyone's vision, then he slams his foot down while pushing his arms forward like an Earthbender shooting a boulder, causing the vapour to scatter away
Teacher: Nice one, Kai, simple waterbending trick but Earthbending inspired, love it! Who's next?
A girl walks in, sits down meditating, and she stands up as she brings her arms above her and slowly brings them down around her. She then pushes her arms to her side sending a huge gust of air to her side whilst sending a few other students in the direction as well. He then sits back down in a meditating pose.
Kenneth: *Whoaa... She's awesome...*
Teacher: That could've been a better way of utilizing your chi through your body bu-
Girl: Oh you want me to do that? Fine then. She stands up and concentrates then starts inhaling and exhaling at a steady rate then gently pushes her arms in front of her, causing a gust of air to come out but starts spinning violently, causing a mini tornado which is picking up rocks and flinging them around in the courtyard.
Teacher: Woohoo!!! Nice one, Trinity!
After several other students, the last, a female earthbender, places her hands together like she's praying then holds her arms outwards with two fingers out and starts spinning around as sand builds up into a tornado surrounding her, spinning at great speeds then eventually dying down
Teacher: Excellent tornado, Cathrine. All right, that concludes our chi practice, now it's time to play a game of Earthbending Dodgeball. Now I understand that some of you aren't earthbenders, but you still have the skills to make makeshift dodgeballs. Rules are simple, don't get hit or you're out. Okay, here are the teams: He says the teams, splitting the class into two. Kai, Kenneth, Cathrine and Trinity are on the same team
Kai: *At least I'm not going against Fire Lord over there, don't wanna get burnt* Bends some water out of a flask attached to the side of his pocket and hardens it into an ice ball
Ken: *I'll see how they all play first...*
Teacher: Everyone ready? Start!
Trinity bends an airball and is about to throw it when a fireball comes hurling at her from the air. Ken runs and jumps above her to do a circular motion with his arms to weaken the fire before it even reaches his arms.
Trinity: *Whoa an airbending move?!*
Ken: Be careful Trinity... He then blushes but turns around quickly and begins to face the other team. As they are throwing elements, Ken is effectively dodging the projectiles with ease using an airbending movement technique with his feet. *So that's how they play...*
The other team throws many rocks at Kai but he turns his ice ball into a wall of snow that effectively smashes the rocks as they hit it
Teacher: Woah! How is your snow that durable!
Kai bends some water out of his second flask and combines the snow into a huge ice ball which he then kicks like a boulder towards his opponents knocking several of them out cold
Ken: *Nice, he bends like an earthbender... Maybe he's using the Foggy swamp style!* He keeps dodging projectiles while thinking then suddenly flicks his arm randomly to the left shooting out 1 fireball. The fireball then splits into 2 other fireballs then hits 3 players knocked them back. Oops...
Teacher: Good move Kenneth.
Trinity: Interesting way of using ya fire! She swirls her arms to make an air wall blocking a few projectiles
Kai: Alright...time to do that move I've been practicing. Kai jumps then bends water similar to a water whip around him as his spins then lands on the ground with a punch, cracking the grounds as he bends water through the earth underground then the water bursts up through the ground beneath the opponent's feet, sending them flying up then falling down Heh, take that.
Teacher: Wow. I'm not sure that is allowed but I don't care, that was amazing!
The kids get back up bruised and still playing. They start yelling and cursing at Kai.
Ken: Geez.. So reckless... Suddenly the firebending players shoot multiple fireballs at Kai, them all combining into a giant fireball. Ken then dashes in front of the fireball and gets in an earthbending stance. He makes his right arm upright like a shield then the fireball collides with it but stops. The fireball burns his arm and pushes him back a bit then he takes a huge step and uses his left arm to punch at the fireball shooting it back and it exploding hitting the other players. *Agh, the idiots could've killed him... And they burned my arm....*
Kai: Wow, thanks...I guess. *hm, maybe I got the wrong impression of this guy...* Kai then runs towards them, makes the water from a nearby pond burst up into a wave, rides the wave across the ground then jumping back as he makes the wave seperate into each of them
Teacher: The game is up! Good job everyone! Our star players, Kai and Kenneth. Now we must go to lunch! Cya guys! Everyone starts to go to lunch after getting their clothes ready.
Kai bends some water and refills his flasks from the pond. He then sits alone eating lunch
Ken walks up to his table and sits directly in front of me and starts to eat his cabbages.
Ken: Yo.
Kai: Doesn't look up and carries on eating his seaweed noodles Hey.
Ken: Those were some pretty cool tricks you did there... Really reminded me of my earthbending master. Where'd you learn that technique?
Kai: Eats his Platypus Bear egg I learnt them myself. Practiced with some friends. They were trained by a master though.
Ken: Nice. He finishes one cabbage and takes the second one. That's when Trinity and Catherine walk up to their table.
Trinity: Um Ken right?
Ken: Yea... What's up?
Trinity: Um where did you learn that airbending technique?
Ken: Avatar Korra before she died.
Trinity: W-Whoa really?!
Ken: Naw im just kidding. A random airbending master. Why?
Trinity: Oh... And well you seemed really proficient like a master airbender...
Ken: Haha thanks! You wanna sit?
Trinity: S-Sure... She sits beside Ken and Catherine sits beside Kai.
Kai: So uh you like cabbages? *Why the hell did I say that?!? You like cabbages?!? Really?!?*
Cathrine: Uhhh sorta...?
Kai: Yeah...love them cabbages... *Excuse me while I kill myself*
Cathrine: So how did your snow break the rocks?
Kai: Intense training can really change an element's properties.
Cathrine: Yeah no kidding, my sand has been really agile and easy to control due to training with Trinity.
Trinity: Yea... I'm the only one to have normal style bending... Haha
Ken: Well, you're a pretty normal girl yourself! *What.The.Fuck!*
Trinity: Wait what?
Ken: Anyway I finished my cabbages. Where do you guys wanna go? I mean we still have 30 minutes of lunch left.
Cathrine: We could go to the indoor gym. Heard it's just like a Probending arena!
Trinity: Yeah, we could train there.
Ken: Yea, but we're not gonna Probend.
Cathrine: We don't have to. Just regular training.
Kai: The training hall is for earthbenders only.
Cathrine: Actually no. It's recommended and intended for earthbenders. You can train there if you're not one. I saw you there the other day.
Kai: Oh. *Great. I feel stupid now.* Let's go then. They head down to the arena
Cathrine: Soo uh...this place seems nice.
Kai: Looks at the mini water fall on the wall Oh that's new. Lifts some water into the air then shoots it out in a burst that cracks a boulder
Cathrine: I'm still wondering how you do that.
Ken: Easily actually. He walks around then looks at Kai Wanna train against each other?
Trinity: Wait, you guys could KILL each other!
Ken: Don't worry!
Kai: Makes water surround his hand like a glove then turn it into an ice glove. He then makes it shatter off his hand Sure why not?
Ken: Cool.. He tightens his scarf around his head then gets in a firebending stance Your move...
Kai: Gets in an earthbending stance. He bends some water in an explosion of water behind him then rides a wave towards Ken. He prepares a huge ice fist to punch Ken but before Ken can react the ice turns to and a huge wave drenches Ken which hurts as if he was hit by a rock avalanche. The rippling water lands on the ground with Kai nowhere to be seen. Kai then unexpectedly spin kicks on the ground with a water whip surrounding him at Ken knocking him over. He then turns the water into steam filling the whole room blinding everyone How's that for my move? The voice echos around making it hard to tell where Kai is
Ken: Argh... Quick succession of moves means he's not as slow as an earthbender... Ken breaths in and out, closes his eyes and focuses his chi throughout his body then puts his hand in front of him and senses Kai's chi but very faintly. He then, as his eyes are closed, shoots 2 fireballs at Kai's location and then starts to run quickly at him.
Kai closes his eyes and uses Toph's vibration sensing technique but with the steam to locate the fireballs and dodge out the way.
Kai: breathes out *Can't believe that worked.* He closes his eyes and senses Ken then roundhouse kicks him to the ground with great strength
Ken then surrounds his whole left arm with fire and jumps up at Kai and punches him in the right side of his ribs to make Kai go flying with burnt marks and then he coughs out blood, still feeling the force of the kick. He then forms and directs chi to his mouth to shoot a giant fireball at Kai. As it goes towards him and Kai gets up, Ken uses his earthbending movements and moves his arms around very quickly to separate the fireball into heat a very dense heatwave and then he pushes the heat wave into Kai so hard he flies into a wall.
Kai wipes blood from his mouth with his arm then, with rage, claps his hands together condensing the air making an ice boulder slam Ken into a wall and crush him slightly. The room is more visible now
Kai: Strange. You're the only person to successfully land a hit on me through the steam. Stomps his foot on the ground creating a tower to punch Ken into the air then he ice launches himself then punches Ken square in the face with an hardened ice fist making his nose bleed and breaking his tooth. They both land but Kai lands on his feet
Flaming arm punch
Ken gets up slowly as he starts to surround his area in fire then dashes at Kai with great swiftness then surrounds his right arm in swirling fire and appears in front of Kai and punches in front of him as all the fire releases from his fist into Kai at point blank range.
Ken: ... *Hope I didn't burn him too bad.. I gotta stay calm...*
Kai attempted to use the condensed air to suppress the heat but still got blasted back to the wall. He gets up slowly and struggling
Kai: *I can't lose to this guy...* I WON'T LOSE! kai stands up and holds his arms out aiming at Ken then Ken's body stops moving, he stays stiff and looks like he's struggling. Ken holds his arms out in pain and looks like he's being stabbed all over. He struggles and flies at the wall behind him and smacks his head into it
Cathrine: Is-is he bloodbending him!
Ken: T-The hell....
Trinity: Guys!! Stop!!!
Ken: You... Ken is on the floor spazing out by the bloodbending but slowly gets control of his hand and moves it in rage to aim at Kai and as soon as he locks on, lightning generates and shoots out of his fingertips as he's still being bloodbended into Kai knocked him back into the wall hard, cracking it. Ken shortly knocks out on the floor.
Kai: AHHHHHH!!!! Screams from being shocked then falls to his knees and knocks out
Cathrine: I'm calling the teacher! She goes to call the teacher and school nurse
Trinity: GUYSS!!!! She starts crying over Ken as Cathrine comes back with the nurse
Cathrine and the nurse run to Kai first as he got burnt
Teacher: What happened here!?!
Cathrine: Ken shot lightning at Kai!
Teacher: Lightning?! Really?!? That's banned in training fights in this school.
Trinity: But Kai bloodbended Ken first!!! He had to defend himself and get Kai to stop!!!
Teacher: Bloodbending?!? That's illegal! Nurse, I want both these boys in my office after they're out the infirmary.
Nurse: Yes sir. Uses water to heal Kai as much as she can now then the same with Ken. She takes them both to the infirmary as they're both in bed.
Near the end of school in the infirmary[]
Kai and Kenneth are both in bed. Ken wakes up first
Ken: This kid... What an idiot! Agh.. My back...
Kai wakes up
Kai: Argh...bastard...why did you shoot lightning at me?!?
Ken: YOU FUCKING BLOODBENDED ME YOU MEXICAN!!!!
Kai: Mexican? You're making no sense. You burnt me! You deserved to be bent! I could've ripped your veins out but I didn't. Could've been a lot worse.
Nurse: Great. You're awake. Head Teacher wants you in his office. Now.
They go to his office and sit down infront of him
Teacher: I am very disappointed in the both of you. Kenneth, shooting lightning without a teacher's permission? This isn't a playground. Lightning kills. You're lucky you don't have a death on your hands. And you Kai. Bloodbending? That's illegal and you know it. You're lucky I don't call the police, have you in cuffs. But I will call your parents Mr. Arlyn. Your adoptive AND your real parents. And for you Mr. Baam, your parents will be informed of your actions today. And you are both banned from unsupervised fights.
Ken: Whatever. I get in trouble when I try to do something against the kid who bloodbends me... Sorry for trying to save myself... He gets up and walks out quietly
Kai: You can't call my real parents! If they find out I'm in Ba Sing Se they'll flip! The school is only allowed to contact my guardians, which are my adoptive parents, Mr. and Mrs. Erin. *If they come here, my life is screwed!*
Teacher: Well your birth parents deserve to know where you are currently. It's their right. You are their son and they will be informed.
Kai: Argh...yes sir. Walks out as the bell rings
Kai's brother (of the family that adopted Kai) Roy walks up to Kai outside the head teacher's office
Roy: Hey Kai! What did he say?
Kai: He's calling mom and dad. Plus my biological parents.
Roy: What?!? He can't do that!
Kai: Apparently he can.
Roy: What are you gonna do?
Kai: Well I'm not gonna be staying here.
Roy: No, you can't leave! You're part of our family. And have been for 5 years.
Kai: I'm not meeting my old parents. If they find out I'm here they'll come to collect me. So I'm leaving anyway. And it's sure as hell not with them.
Roy: You can't leave after all this time!
Kai: Maybe I'll go join the Foggy Swamp Tribe again, they seemed nice for the year I was with them.
Roy: You don't belong there. That's why you left them. You tell me that all the time. You also tell me you belong here. In our family.
Kai: Look at me. I wear Water Tribe clothes, I bend water and I look like a waterbender. I can't stay here.
Roy: You're an earthbender now. Part of the Earth Kingdom. A resident of Ba Sing Se. You're not a Water Tribe kid anymore. You're completely different.
Kai: Yeah...you're right. But what am I gonna do?
Roy: Well you don't even know if they're coming. Wait until you know then we'll decide.
Kai: Alright.
Roy: You hungry? Want a cabbage or something?
Kai: Heh nah.
Roy: Okay so who's the bastard that shot lightning at you?
Kai points at Ken standing in the distance.
Roy: Oh...yeah there must've been a reason right?
Kai: Sigh I-I uh bloodbended him...
Roy: You what?!? Wow I didn't even know you could do that!
Kai: Yeah well it comes and goes.
As Kenneth is leaving the school somebody bumps into him and he falls to his face. He gets up and looks at a person running with his money and bracelet his father gave him.
Ken: Hey! Give that back! He then starts to run after the thief. The thief then uses airbending to push himself off of the ground over a house. Ken then runs around the house and sees the thief running. Ken begins to run after the thief but is losing distance because of their airbending. *I gotta use that move...*
Ken then places his arms behind his back and shoots out fire from his fists to boost his speed and then starts to gain on the thief. He dodges civilians and cars by slightly gliding over the street and begins to run down a hill and glide over houses. The thief looks back in shock and runs to the side but then Ken turns his fire boosts to the side onto the street in front of the thief. In quick succession Ken spins to his right and kicks twice, shooting two crescent shaped fire at the thief but he jumps to the side with airbending and punches at Ken multiple times. He starts stepping around the air blasts with little steps like an airbending and even starts to duck and spin under a blast.
Thief: *What?! He moves like an airbender!!* He then spins on the ground creating an expanding air ring that tries to shoot out at Ken's legs but he jumps over it and does a frontflip while shooting fire from his fists to make a narrow blade of fire slice down vertically on the thief and burning half on his clothes and body. AGH!!!!
Ken: Now... Ken grabs the thief by his collar and makes a fire dagger appear at the end of his fist to put up to the thief's face. Now... Who put you up to this... He takes back his bracelet and money but as this happens someone comes from the corner and blasts a huge stream of water at Ken pushing him back far.
Thief: The thief then says something under his breath but runs way with the waterbender that saved him.
Ken: Ahhhh what the hell... He gets up as he still has his stuff Always happening to me recently... What's going on? He then begins to walk away from the scene to his small house by himself.
At the Erin Household[]
Kai just returned with Roy from their daily after-school-training as his parents just read the letter from his head teacher
Kai's father: Kai? Is this true? Bloodbending a student? I didn't even know you could do that...
Kai: Yeah...Throws his bag on the sofa But it started as a friendly fight and got a little out of control.
Kai's mother: How so?
Kai: He got me angry during the fight so I just did it...
Kai's father: And you got sent to the infirmary because you were struck by lightning?!
Kai: Yeah but I'm fine now. He did that when I bloodbent him.
Kai's mother: You know bloodbending is illegal. You could've been sent to jail by that.
Kai's father: Look, we're not gonna punish you for an accident, so just don't do it again.
Kai: Yes dad. Goes to his and Roy's shared room and lies down on his bed
Roy: I heard about your fight from Cathrine. She described moves I didn't even know you could do. Why have you been hiding these moves? How and when did you learn them?
Kai: I train in secret. More than I already do with you after school. I've learnt healing from watching my mother do it, plantbending from the swamp, fighting from my father, density changing by myself by observing earthbending masters and punching rocks, better strength from moving rocks, earthbending stances from you and the kids from school, vibration sensing from Lin Beifong and bloodbending from being so angry at times.
Roy: Wow. All I train is with you and my police friend. Didn't know you trained so much. But why?
Kai: Well, I don't know yet. Maybe because I just want to stand out. Be better. Not having to bend like the other waterbenders, becoming a legend.
Roy: Well sorry but that can't happen so easily. People hate us. We're the trash of society. The outcasts. The poor people. People look down at us. I don't know why you would give up a rich, well-known family life for a bunch of poor nobodies.
Kai: Because this family understands me. Likes me for who I am and doesn't try to alter me to their liking. Unlike my other controlling family. Anyway, grabs a duffel bag I'm going to football club now.
Roy: You just use that as an excuse to go train don't you?
Kai: Yeah...
Roy: I knew it, you don't even like football.
Kai: Don't tell them please?
Roy: Alright. But...if you let me come and practice with you?
Kai: That makes it better! Sure, let's go! they leave to train
Ken is in his small beat up house and is laying on the floor when he decides to go train. He gets up, puts his scarf around his head and his fire nation clothes and goes to a warehouse. He opens the door slowly but finds a waterbender and earthbender.
Ken: *Dammit.. I thought this was abandoned... Whatever...* He walks to a far corner and starts to stretch.
'Kai feels the presence of Ken via evaporated water particles and stops training
Kai: Roy, stop. There's someone else here.
Roy: Punches a rock at the wall then turns to Kai Who?
Kai: I don't know. In the corner. They look in the corner and see Ken
Roy: It's that firebender you fought.
Kai: Excuse me, this warehouse is taken. Leave.
Ken ignores him and keeps stretching
Ken: *Tch, why does he think he's the boss of me...*
Kai sighs in anger then walks towards him but is stopped by Roy by placimg his hand on his shoulder
Roy: Mouths Leave it. Just ignore him.
Kai: Fine. Walks back to the middle and practices fighting against Roy
Ken: *Finally... Annoying idiot..* He then starts to do one handed push-ups and finally begins to train. He grabs little rocks marked with "X"s and throws them into the air behind him. He then turns his head and shoots little fire pellets out of his mouth in rapid succession at the rocks and they explode. He then turns his whole body around and practices using the ground around him with his fire and he ends up causing an explosion in the floor. Sorry! He goes back to training
Kai: *The hell is he doing?* Roy shoots metal bullets but Kai blocks it with a dense ice shield
Roy: That's some strong shield. Stomps the ground bringing up a boulder then kicks it at Kai who smashes it with an ice glove
Kai: You gotta do better than that Roy.
Roy: I'm trying bro. Repeats the attack
Ken: *Hmm... Maybe I should try combustionbending now...* Ken stretches his back and takes off the scarf around his head and throws it to the floor uncovering his forehead. He then begins to meditate and focus his chi through his stomach and then quickly moves it to his head and shoots it out of his forehead. The cracking sound is heard as it hits the ground near him and makes him fly back into the warehouse wall. AH!! Crap... He gets up and he praises himself for actually completing it.
Kai: What the hell?!? What's he doing back there?!? Goes to Ken
Kai: What are you doing?
Ken: Looks at Kai as he's sitting on the ground thinking Training you fart. Now go away before I make you. He turns around
Kai: Try not to destroy the place. under breathe dumbass. carries on training
Ken also carries on training when suddenly they hear a carraige outside. Ken jumps up and walks to look outside to see lots of people gathered up on the sides and horserabbits dragging them along. The man is looking around smiling asking everyone some questions.
Ken: Wonder what's going on... He goes up to the man and the man smiles at Ken and puts out his hand
Kai: Roy, let's go check that out.
Roy: Okay. Wonder what's happening.
They go outside as the man in the carriage steps onto a platform higher than the ground as if he's about to give a speech. He's wearing Fire Nation clothes and has earthbenders guarding him as a huge crowd of nearly everyone in Ba Sing Se gathers to listen.
Roy: This guy looks really important.
Kai: He's gonna make a speech.
The man smiles at everyone as he prepares a speech
Man: Hello citizens of Ba Sing Se. As most of you know, I am Silas of the Lotus Clan. I am here to ask if anyone, anyone at all, has any information about who or where the new Avatar is. Since Avatar Korra died a couple weeks ago, and she was a waterbender, the new Avatar is an earthbender and is located here in the Earth Kingdom. Now what I want if for everyone to be on the look out for this Avatar and present him or her to me. Therfore I shall be able to help the Avatar master the four elements and they will assist me in ridding the world of poverty, war and crime. We together will remaster this world into a peaceful new society together as one nation. But for that my friends, the Avatar must be found as soon as possible. Thank you for listening and may the four nations be united!
He raises his arm as he said the last line then his men hold up a flag of a Lotus and he walks to his carraige taking him back to a boat to the Fire Nation. After, everyone looks around to see posters everywhere with Silas' face on it and "May the four nations be united" written on them and the name of his organisation
Kai: What the hell? Where did the posters come from?
Ken: Seems like he came here with them... He was ready for this thing. Wonder how long he's been doing this.
Roy: He came all the way from the Fire Nation to get the Avatar. He means serious business.
Kai: Look at this Rips a poster off the wall May the four nations be united...weird. This guy wants the Avatar to help him. Doesn't he know the Avatar is like what, a week old or something?
Roy: Avatar Korra died a little over a month ago. Hopefully he wasn't waiting for her to die to do all this.
Kai: He had Earth Kingdom troops by his side. He seemed like a king. Had a flag too.
Ken: Hmm... Don't care though. I like Ba Sing Se the way it is. He walks away from the place burning some posters on his way back to the warehouse. *Hm, I wonder if I should go home now.*
Kai: *Who is the Avatar? If people do find out who, I hope they don't actually give him/her to this guy.*
Ken: Yo Kai, who's that guy by the way? He burns a few more posters
Kai: Oh he's my brother Roy.
Ken: Hm cool, nice to meet you Roy. I presume he's told you about the little blood-lightning incident?
Roy: Well yeah, I heard it from Cathrine and Trinity actually. They were really worried. Heh, blood lightning...sounds awesome.
Kai: Looks at Roy with a weird face Okay. Didn't know Trinity and Cathrine knew you like that.
Roy: Yeah we're like good friends. I think Trinity likes you Kai.
Kai: Wha-what? Trinity?
Roy: Yeah and Cathrine likes you Ken. Heh. Quite a lot actually. No wait. It might be the other way round...Probably.
Kai: Oh Roy.
Ken: Hehe, no wayy... Cathrine or Trinity liking me? He blushes I-I mean how? I mean I understand Kai... Anyway, sorry about that lightning Kai. I needed you to stop bloodbending me somehow.
Kai: Nah don't apologise, I'm sorry for bloodbending you in the first place. Just didn't want to lose...
Ken: Heh, guess we're similar in that aspect. Hey Roy, can you do anything other than earthbend?
Roy: Yeah, I'm pretty good at metalbending. Learnt that from a metalbending officer.
Ken: Cool. Well see you guys later. I'm gonna go and train at my house a bit. Bye.
Kai: See ya.
Roy: Bye. They head back home
One week later....[]
Ken exits his house and begins to walk to school. He sees posters everywhere of Silas and shakes his head while continuing to walk. He eventually sees Trinity and Cathrine walking together to school and stays away from them until they reach class. Ken sits in the back of the class while thinking and spots Kai.
Kai sits next to Ken
Kai: Hey. Spoke to Cathrine yet?
Ken: N-Nah... I don't plan on talking to her... You? I think she likes you more to be honest but I could be wrong...
Kai: Nah. Roy better be right about them liking us in the first place or I'll kick his ass heh. So what's with all the Salis posters? I saw some earthbenders making a statue of him this morning. The worst part about it was they were kids and weren't told to do it. They done it willingly.
Ken: Damn... It's like their brainwashed or something...
Trinity turns around and looks at Ken
Trinity: Whispering What're you guys whispering about?
Ken: N-Nothing... Just wondered something.
Trinity: K! She smiles at him then turns back around
Kai: Okay now I'm really confused. Who likes who? The teacher tells them to stop talking then they stay silent during the whole lesson til it's break
Kai, Ken, Trinity, Cathrine and Roy meet up outside
Ken: Yo He lays on a bench seat while swirling fire around his nose
Trinity: Haha whoa! Chi movement around your nose I see! She sits on the table and rests her feet on his stomach
Ken: OOF! What the?
Trinity: Hahahaha sorry, you're in the way though She lifts her right leg and kicks a mini air blast at his face
Roy signals Kai to walk away a bit from the group to talk without them hearing
Roy: Okay, I figured it out and I'm quite confident on this. Cathrine likes me, Trinity likes Cathrine and Ken likes you. nods in confidence
Kai: Yeah thanks for that bro. taps his hand on his chest and walks back to the group disappointed
Cathrine: So guys, guess what.
Roy: What?
Cathrine: I signed up for a week long trip to visit a Lotus Creed camp.
Kai: You did what? You trust that creepy guy who we just saw yesterday asking for the potentially most powerful bender alive?
Cathrine: What? The Lotus Creed has been around for over a year now, Silas just recently asked for the Avatar, and for a good reason.
Trinity: I agree, there's no way he's creepy. I mean he kinda looks like a molester but that's besides the point. He seems like a geniully good guy! Unlike that Kuvira lady...
Ken: Eh... I mean you can't judge a book by its cover. He could be extremely dangerous for all we know. He forms a flame on his feet and he starts juggling it in the air with his feet
Roy: I heard he donated to over 50 charities.
Cathrine: That's just the tip of the iceberg. He's helped so many, he helped rebuild cities and is the least selfish guy ever. He trusts everyone and sees good in everyone. He's actually reaching his goal of changing the world.
Kai: Then why does he walk around with thirty guards by his side 24/7? He's obviously hiding something.
Trinity: Maybe some people hate him for no reason and want to attack him.
Kai: I can think of a few.
Cathrine: So Ken, I heard you can combustionbend, care to give us a demonstration?
Trinity: You can combustionbend?!
Ken: Well yea but-
Trinity: Show us!
Ken: Can't... We're still at school plus I haven't fully mastered it yet. It's extremely hard to do. Meet me at the east lake after school if you want to see it.
Trinity: Lake? What Lake?
Ken: Oh... Well there's this secret lake on the east side of the city behind an abandoned part of the town. I go there to relax and train most of the time.
Kai: Where did you learn to firebend like every other bending style?
Ken: Well when I first started bending, my mother sent me out because she thinks I should learn all bending styles. So I started with a firebending master that was on my island in the Southern Fire Nation who taught me lots of martial arts and focusing my chi. That's when I left the island and went to some people who brung me to the source of firebending and that's how my firebending is so pure, not based off of my rage and very fluid. Anyway, when I was 5 I finally left.
Trinity: Wait, where did you go to master firebending so fast?
Ken: For me, I didn't master firebending until last year. People say I mastered it in those 5 years but I refuse to believe it. And can't tell. It's a secret. So I then went to an airbending temple to learn and be spiritual. By the way, my family was very spirutal so it was easy for me. I also learned the evasive maneuvers and techniques of airbenders like you Trinity. Since I have no airbending, I use fire instead to help boost my movements and I've become very graceful like an airbender. Although I don't have their passive nature.
Trinity: Interesting... What about the others?
Kai: You came to the Southern Water Tribe. Didn't you? I remember seeing you there.
Ken: Yep. That's when I was 8 years old. I went there to learn to control my chi paths throughout my body. I then learnt the traditional waterbending movements and managed to effectively lightningbend there for my first time as well. Pretty great. And well I guess that's how I learned to do combustionbending after hearing about it. Just focus the pool of chi in your stomach, directing to your forehead and release. That's when a superheated, and compressed ball of air fire shoots out and explodes with whatever on contact.
Trinity: Whoa...
Ken: And I just came here last year to learn the ways of earthbending. That's why you'll see me using earthbending movements a lot. I learned the utilize neutral jing but with firebending and make my firebending attacks more rigid like earth. Same thing Kai does with waterbending.
Kai: Why'd you train so much?
Trinity: Yea... That's kind of crazy
Ken: Well I wanted to be like the Avatar and I madea promise to my father... He stops then gets up So... What about you Kai?
Kai: Well...uh...my actual parents, not my adoptive ones, back in the Southern Water Tribe always pushed me to be the best waterbender, but I always failed. They weren't even sure I could bend at all. My father was a really powerful waterbender who taught me how to fight and my mother was a healer from the Northern Water Tribe. They wanted to disown me because I was the worst waterbender ever. So I trained in secret, still failing to have control over water. I watched how my mother healed and learned it myself. Still pretty useless at it though. Then when I was 8, I met this expert firebender, you Ken, we were friends for a short time. Don't know if you remember. But anyway, I saw that you travelled from the Fire Nation to here and plan to travel the world learning all bending arts. So I wanted to do the same. So I ran away from home. I was only 8. I travelled through the Earth Kingdom alone, I met the Foggy Swamp Tribe, they accepted me in and taught me how to plantbend. I soon left them because I didn't belong there, I continued travelling while also teaching myself to fight, I fought like an earthbender because it was easier for me. Then I ended up here in Ba Sing Se where I met Roy and some other earthbenders. They all trained with an earthbending master who refused to train me so after every lesson, they taught me what they learnt. I trained my body by practicing moving rocks with my water, it was hard but doable. That's why my water is so dense and tough. I can alter the density to be as hard as rocks or as light as the air. I learnt Seismic Sense from the metalbenders and bloodbending from my rage. I still train in secret everyday, I do so because I want to show I can be a great waterbender without using the regular style of waterbending.
Cathrine: Wow. That's a lot of training.
Kai: Yeah well you can't be a great bender without training.
Ken: I remember you... You were that waterbender that everybody laughed at... Argh... I wish I could find those bullies and beat them up...
Kai: If only they could see me now, who's the weak one now.
Roy: Forget your old family, they're not even your family, your family is here in Ba Sing Se.
Kai: Yeah you're right.
Cathrine: Soo uh Trinity, after school we could go training again, the usual place. After Ken takes us to the lake obviously.
Trinity: Yep. I finally figure out how to do that move in class today. It makes so much sense.
Ken: What mo- The teacher comes out to bring everybody in the class once more
Later after school[]
The gang walk out of school laughing
Cathrine: I sware the teacher was about to facepalm haha.
Kai: Yeah, how can someone be that stupid heheh.
Roy: Right, so Ken, lead the way to the lake you were on about.
Ken: Alright then! They begin to walk far away and are in the abandoned district
Trinity: Wow... Wonder why nobody ever tried to even inhabit this place again...
Kai: Huh, how often do you come here?
Ken: Almost everyday after my practice with my earthbending master.
Trinity: Ohh yeaaa, so you go practice after school then come here?
Ken: Yep, I have no family here anyway. So my earthbending teacher buys me food and stuff since APPARENTLY she's really good friends with my mother. Which I don't believe but whatever. So anyway, it's school, practice, here, then home. Usually my time here is either meditation or a bit of practice but mostly meditation since I don't want to vomit up all the food I've eaten with her.
Kai: Cool. For me it's wake up early, practice, go school, go to a warehouse and practice, go home, go practice late at night then go home and sleep.
Roy: What the hell? You practice late at night?
Kai: Yeah...
Roy: Any other practice sessions I should know about?
Kai: Nope... Anyway, Ken, combustionbend, please.
Ken: Okay we have to get over to the lake fir- Ken's spine shivers then he jumps to the left and spins his arms in a circular motion while making fire to melt oncoming ice shards. He then does 3 firejabs at the location then his head turns to other torn down house and he does a spinning kicks to shoot a blazing ring of fire at the house. Somebody then jumps out into the air with a frontflip and a giant boulder comes flying out behind them and launches toward them. The gang get raided by a bunch of pirates
Trinity: She runs forward and jumps and does a 360, landing on the ground while doing a sweep with her arms around her body and compressing her hands together. The giant boulder then stops before it reaches them and they see slight air movement around the boulder making it float. Cathy!!
Cathrine jumps and frontflips into the air landing on the as it explodes into shards sending outwards at the attackers
Roy: What's going on?!? Runs to a steel beam and bends it around him like armor with his hand and runs at some enemies engaging in a H2H fight with steel fists
Kai: Who the hell-A man tries to punch him but he dodges and blasts some water in his face from his flasks then backflip kicks his chin. He then runs sideways on a wave in a circle and creates a water tornado/mini hurricane then jumps in the middle and rides it into enemies
Kai: Roy! Lightning Sword technique with Ken! Freezes the tornado then ice launches out of it then lands with an ice Comet Drop on some enemies
Roy: Nods then uses the steel armor and bends it into a long two handed sword Ken! Shoot some thunder on the sword! Throws the sword high in the air aiming at a group of enemies
Ken then charges up lightning quicker and shoots lightning with excellent accuracy at the rod flying through the air.
The sword lands with a lightning explosion knocking out several pirates
Kai: Nice bro. Punches in the direction of the pirates causing splashes of pressurised water to follow the movement of his fists hitting the pirates
Cathrine causing a wave of sand to rise up behind her then flatten the enemies
Trinity: Ken!!
Ken: Yea! He runs at one pirate that is swirling water around him and jumps at him and ignites his foot in swirling fire and kicks at him burning through the water and his foot reaches the guy's face and kicks him away.
Trinity: *Smart.. He ignited his foot on fire to make it counter the water shield then his foot kept going...* She then starts to swirl her arms to make a tornado and pushes it at a group of enemies and Ken shoots a stream of fire from his palm into the tornado. He maintains the fire until the tornado swallows up a hiding spot.
Ken: Heh... Suddenly from the side he sees a compressed water whip and he tries to make a whip but it gets his arm and the whip solidifies into ice on Ken's arm and he is pulled quickly through the air and hit with an air and fire blast so strong at point blank range he nearly loses consciousness.
Trinity: Ken!!! She runs to Ken but pirates come in front of her but she claps her hands and they all fly back. She then enhances her speed to run really fast past everyone before they could even react. She punches a guy and then turns her body while in mid-air and kicks other guy in the arm possibly breaking it. She then spins around while on another guy's head generating a huge vortex sucking everyone in and then expelling it pushing everyone except Ken out.
Ken: Trinity...
Trinity: You'll be alright Ken, I'll- Somebody runs at her quickly and flips while throwing multiple boulders at them and she pushes her palm out at it making it suddenly explode past them, and does this with the rest. An airbender lands behind her and Ken grabs the guy and throws him into the air and firejabs him. Ken and Trinity go back to back.
Ken: Dammit... What's going on... We need to get to the lake guys! Ken then grabs Trinity's hand as they start running to the lake.
Kai rides a wave like a surfboard in a zig zag pattern with a trail of ice left behind and at each turn leaving jagged ice spikes. He brings up ice boulders and punches them at enemies one per second till he runs out of water and rolls onto the floor then stands up and the edge of the lake
Roy stomps the ground making an earthquake open up a crack in the top layer of the ground then rides a rock avalanche through the crack to the lake
Cathrine brings up the sand from beneath the crack and makes a sand armor mech and runs towards the lake barging through everyone leaving a trail of sand
Ken boosts himself with fire and Trinity runs super fast and slides to the lake.
Ken: Good.. Now we have the advatage... He stands still as he takes the scarf off around his head and everyone is running toward them and concentrates. Two very large boulders get launched into the air and before anybody could react he inhales deeply as he pushes his chi from his stomach to his forehead and exhales to as a ray of heat shoots out of his forehead and crackles until it reaches the boulders can causing a huge explosion pushing everyone back.
Trinity: Whoa!!! Was that you?!? That was crazy!!!
As the smoke clears Kai laughs in amazement
Kai: Holy crap! That was freaking awesome!!
Roy: I have never seen something like that before.
Cathrine: Do it again!
Kai: Yeah you might want to, there's hundreds more!
At least fifty more pirares come and easily overpower the gang
Kai: Where are they coming from!?
Roy: These pirates are putting way to much effort into this!
Ken: I'll try it again! Get back! As everyone gets back, Ken starts to concentrate but suddenly gets hit in the forehead and flies back AGRH!!! He stumbles to get up and tries to shoot a couple firejabs but falls on the floor holding his head.
Roy: I'll get them! scrunches some iron around his hand and runs aimlessly at the enemiesIRON FIST PUUUUUUUUUUUU- He gets fire jabbed on the chest burning his shirt and knocking him into a wall
Kai: ROY!! You bastards! He bloodbends them into the air then rides a wave over to them and does a mid air backflip sending a blast of blunt ice shards which bruise them heavily as they fall to the ground along with Kai who then runs to Roy You alright bro?
Roy: Attempts to get up Y-yea yea Falls back down Nope definitely not, that really hurt...
Kai: Looks under his shirt to see a red burn mark in the shape of flame across his chest Holy crap that's bad.
Roy: What? Ah crap. Did I get any of them?
Kai: Uhhh no. You absolutely failed.
Roy: Aw man.
Trinity: Tch.. She runs forward in front of everyone and slams her hands together making everything in front of them fly forward. Somebody then runs from the side and hits her pressure points then hits her to the ground I-I can't move!!!!
Ken: AGH!!! He gets up and spins shooting a cresent shaped flame out at the person but the pirate dodges and jumps behind Ken. Ken then starts to evade his hits by using airbending movements and spins and kicks the guy's back and uses fire to amplify the kick and drive him into the ground.
Trinity: Ken help!!!! Ken runs to her but more pirates come and airbend at Ken, but he dodges and firejabs some more.
Ken then does a couple backflips as more chi-blockers come at him, so he just uses hand to hand combat against them knocked some out but a chi-blocker blocks the chi to his left leg and he falls.
Ken: SHIT!!! He rolls forward on his back and uses his good leg to shoot a massive blast of fire out, making all the oncoming attackers move out of the way.
Cathrine: Crap! Makes a sand fist rise up and land on some pirates but they get back up. A pirate metalbender swings in on a wire and swing kicks her head then as she's down, he chi-blocks her back
Kai: *They're sending chi-blockers now?!?* Roy, they're all down, I'll bloodbend the-
Roy: No don't, please don't do that thing again.
Kai: Argh fine. A throwing star hits his left forearm Ah crap! Pulls it out as he feels dizzy then falls over knocked out as Roy goes unconscious from his burns
Somewhere dark[]
Ken wakes up in a chair locked up and tries to move. He looks around and sees a large box and sees another chair in front of him. He doesn't feel the scarf on his head then he starts to rattle the chair in anger.
Ken: Where the the fuck is my scarf...
Somebody then comes in and walks to the chair and sits in front of Ken. It's Silas.
Silas: Kenneth... I've been watching you and I've seen your great potential. He sits up in his chair
Ken: Yea... So? He wiggles
Silas: Well, we want you to join us in gathering people around the world. We're going to unite all the nations into a giant union with the strongest and most important people around the world. So would you like to join us? It will be a very fun adventure and you could be one of my top people.
Ken: ...Sounds interesting but no. I rather have everyone the way they are. No point in isolating the weak people. Everybody deserves to be equal... You're just a sick fu- Ken gets punched in the face.
Silas: What?! Are you kidding me? This world is much better with having only the strong around. Then this world would be more consistent and more flowing. The weak are slowing us down and it's time to take action.
Ken: Are you KIDDING?! Ken then breaths a bit of fire in Silas's face but he reacts quick enough to dodge and an airbender guard shoots air in Ken's face whipping his head back in the chair.
Silas: Fine... You want to be stubborn. I'll show you what people with POWER can do. Chain him. He gets up and some guards take Ken out of the chair. Once they untie him, Ken tries to spin kick them but then hold his leg and pull water from the ground and shoot him with extreme force into the wall.
Guard: Don't be stupid, kid. They grab him and prepare chains in the ceiling which they tie him by his arms up and leave his body dangling above the ground.
Silas: Now. Are you going to join us or not? I'm pretty sure you don't want us to do this.
Ken: Sensing from the situation you won't do anything serious.
Silas: He looks away Do it.
The guards gather water around them and turn it into a sharp blade. They quickly slash at Ken's chest diagonally
Ken: Aghh... Be breaths out hard and flails around a bit.
Guard 1: Boss, keep going?
Silas: Til he talks.
Ken: ...
The guards slash again in a diagonal way making a bleeding "X" on his body. He grunts then looks up and smirks a bit.
Ken: I've been through worse... He spits out blood
The guards keep slashing at him until he passes out.
Silas: The hell is wrong with this kid... Stop. The guards stop and then he looks at the pool of blood beneath him. Dammit!
Later when Ken wakes up he's in a chair with a light on his face and two people on each side with an object in their hand.
Silas: Last resort. Sorry but this HAS to happen. They then start saying things while Ken's vision starts to get distorted and his hearing gets weird. Everything starts to swirl and his minds starts to race so he closes his eyes and begins to concentrate and meditate silently. His hearing starts to go good again and the effect of the seemingly brainwash seems to wear off but they keep doing it. To trick them Ken opened his eyes in fear and started to clearly recite what they were saying.
Silas: *Good... It finally got to him...*
After about 5 minutes they stop and Ken remains with a straight, emotionless face until they tell him to act normal. Suddenly Ken's face goes normal and then they ask him a question about Silas. Ken answers with a straight response and the guards and Silas smile.
Silas: You are now on your way. A guard will escort you to your room. Thank you for joining.
Ken: It's my pleasure Mr. Silas.
Ken looks around while walking to find an exit.
Ken: *If this is a boat then I should be able to escape on there...* The guard leads him to a room and before he goes in, he runs around the guard by running on the room and landing behind him. He firebends a miniblast at his head knocking the guard into the door. He throws the guard inside the room and extinquishes the candles in there. He jumps above the door as he waits for more guards to come as they heard something.
Guard: Over here! About 5 guards come and 2 enter and see the knocked out guard then suddenly the guards outside hear the 2 guard muffle something. The other 3 go inside and one uses firebending but doesn't see Ken. He jumps down from above the door and lands on the ground. He runs out of the entrance and uses the heat surrounding the door to slam it closed.
Ken: This should be able to detain them for a bit... He then starts to dash quickly to an open dock area and three people come and block his path. That's when one of them starts shooting metal from the sides of the ship and Ken starts dodging them with minimal effort. But suddenly a bar unhinges from the railing next to him and hits him into the wall. He tries to spin on the ground and blast fire from his feet to throw off the enemies but an enemy in metal armor grabs his leg and throws him far. DAMMIT!
Guard: RAAAHHH!!!! The metalbender then runs at Ken as he's rolling on the ground but he recovers and forms lightning in a quick succession and strikes it at the man and he screams in pain and dies. Ken dashes towards him, uses fire to elevate his dead body into the air then pushes a huge amount of heat at the metal body to go hit the other bender. More guards then come from everywhere but Ken is already almost down the ship when he encounters the last person. The person runs towards Ken and begins to try and strike his pressure points and Ken starts to counter her but gets hit a few times in the left arm. It goes limp but then he spits out a widespread breath of fire to put distance in between him and the chi-blocker and jumps on the railing and jumps off the boat. As he's falling into the water he sees a boat hanging by a rope on the side of the ship and he swipes a cresent shaped flame at the rope to burn them all and he falls in. As he surfaces in the water he sees the boat fall into the water and he swims quickly to it.
Ken: FINALLY! He gets on the boat with only using one arm then tries to use a paddle but its very diffult. So he then shoots a jet of fire behind the boat, propelling it forward as other benders try to stop him. Some waterbenders try to make a maelstorm to suck him in but he jets too fast with the boat out of sight. The head guard and Silas watch him escape
Guard: Should we follow him?
Silas: No. Let him leave. He chose his fate.
