Raiden Tsubaki was a hot-headed and playful new soldier in the Neo Human Marine Army (NHMA) who had lost his entire squad and his childhood friend on his first mission. On his first mission in the NHMA, Raiden was energetic and ready to kill some Celestial aliens, so he was the first to leave when they had landed on a small unnamed planet where the Celetials had planted a huge beam that could destroy a planet as big as Venus. As Raiden ran towards the mission objective, he was unaware that the Strike Squad was ambushed by Celestials as they were running after Raiden; soon after the team was killed, Raiden had completed the mission easily and hurried back to the team, only to see that his team was all dead and the only one still breathing was his childhood friend, Hana Himura and she had then given him her necklace and told him she loved him right before she had died. After Raiden had screamed out of sadness, the Celetials from before had noticed him and attacked again, only to anger Raiden and caused their own deaths. Once Raiden had slain the Celetials and given Strike Squad a burial after taking their dog tags, he had returned to the Taiyou but not before crying out all of his tears; back in the Taiyou, he was covered in blood and was the center of attention as he walked to make the report, and in the report, he had blamed his team's deaths on himself and had recieved the nickname "Blood Hound" for being a loyal dog who has been covered in the blood of enemies and allies. A year later, Raiden was given the title of Strike Squad's captain after his suspension since he was the only member of Strike Squad left, so he was then given a new team made out of nothing but new recruits whom most were terrified of him.

Now given his new team, Raiden was feared among most of them, having only three new soldiers who weren't scared of him, the granddaughter of the Colonel, Lily Hunter, the ace sniper from the Neo-Olympics, Moses Cairo, and the genius womanizer, John Yang. As Raiden continues his life questioning whether he's even human anymore in the war, Lily tries to find a way to cheer him up and make him more like the way he used to be and not an emotionless man out for revenge.
