Ryuu Radcliffe is one of the protagonists of Elemental Shift.
Personality[]
Ryuu can be described as hard-boiled. Ryuu is a tough, cynical guy who often keeps his emotions hidden away from others, and appears cold and uncaring as a result. However, this doesn't necessarily mean Ryuu is a bad person. Often times, Ryuu helps others out and offers his assistance whenever he can. To his friends, he's a fun, comical guy; however, he doesn't have many friends to be open around. Stubborn and decisive, Ryuu makes his decisions as quick as he can and usually doesn't linger on anything. Despite the cold exterior, Ryuu is a truly nice person and kind to most. His detective intuition has been honed all through out his life, seeing as he comes from a family of detectives on both sides. Using this intuition, Ryuu can deduce what his opponent's next move and tactically counter said move. Ryuu is also a bit of a trickster, utilizing Light-based holograms to trick his opponent and using Fire separately to increase his attack power. Outside of this, Ryuu enjoys listening to music, drawing stuff, and reading detective or crime fiction novels.
Appearance[]
Ryuu is a tall man of 6'1" with a well-toned body of slightly-tanned skin. His hair is worn just like in the above picture, albeit kept slightly longer. For clothing, Ryuu often wears a dress shirt, a pair of slacks, a necktie, a waistcoat, and a fedora hat; all with assorted colors. His eyes are a dark amber, and Ryuu weighs about 170 lbs or 77 kg.

- Fire Element: From his father, Fire burns within Ryuu's soul. This power allows Ryuu to manipulate, generate, and control Fire, as well as control the thermal energy of said flames. Normally, Ryuu utilizes Fire to augment his attacks, either by imbuing his personal martial arts style with flames or using his Shifter Weapon to attack. Sometimes, if Light cannot be used to distract his opponent, Ryuu will switch his tactics and elements. When Fire is used as the distraction, Ryuu will create walls of fire around him and/or his opponent, charging light-based attacks while the enemy tries to deal with the burning distractions.
- Light Element: From his mother's side, Ryuu uses the Light Element, which allows to generate, control and emit light to his will. He is able to project hard light or soft light constructs, lasers or increase the intensity of the light to blind. Ryuu can also bend light around him so no one can see him, and can also refract light to trick his opponent into thinking Ryuu is somewhere else; perfect for sneak attacks of any kind. When used as the attacking element, Ryuu utilizes Light constructs such as weapons and charges up lasers or other light-based attacks to fire off.
- Scorch: The Combination Element of Fire and Light. However, Ryuu hasn't accessed this ability yet; preferring to stick to the base elements of this element. Unfortunately, Ryuu has shown signs of using Scorch when he was young, and even now, Scorch still shows every now and then when Ryuu utilizes Fire and Light together; mainly during times when Ryuu is using Fire as the distraction element and charging Light attacks. Whenever Ryuu charges light attacks, Scorch has a rare chance of being used instead, always on accident due to Ryuu having not as much fighting proficiency in Light compared to Fire.

- Low Latent Inhibition: Due to his detective training, Ryuu can detect various minor details in the environment in order to piece together a solid, well-planned conclusion.
- Enhanced Hearing: Also from his detective training, Ryuu's enhanced hearing allows him to notice many things other may not hear.
- Skilled Combatant: Ryuu's personal martial arts style is a wild and unpredictable one, especially when combined with his elemental abilities.
- Enhanced Agility: Ryuu has agility that is enhanced from training, moving swiftly around from cover to cover in stealth operations.
- Stealth Ability: Detective training has led Ryuu to become a stealth expert, used perfectly when he can bend light around him to become invisible to the naked eye.
- Enhanced Stamina: Parts of his training involved brutal, stamina-enhancing methods. With this stamina, Ryuu can be productive for much longer than the average Shifter, and usually goes to bed past midnight due to said stamina keeping him awake.
History[]
Born to a line of detectives, Ryuu lived a hard-boiled life. Most people were trained in Shifter Academies and taught the basics of elemental control and learning other types of knowledge. Ryuu, however, was taught these things by his parents and also trained more harshly and brutally to hone his skills. Training with a family of detectives has molded Ryuu in a detective as well, and a good one at that. His detective skill and surprisingly high knowledge of various subjects earned him his place in Balance Academy. His parents couldn't refuse such an offer, and with his detective training completed just in time, Ryuu was sent off to Balance Academy to kick-start his professional Shifter life. Of course, this is gonna bring some pretty interesting situations to Ryuu's feet...
