Ninja Gakuen Taisen is an anime that was written, directed, and created by Akira Jotaro who also created the anime Mahou Gakuen Magica, Swinging!, and Dokuganryu-hime.
The story takes place in modern day in a city hidden in the mountains called Kazeto where ninjas train to become great shinobi. The story is about a student from a Koga ninja school transferring to the Iga ninja school, Kazeto Ninja Academy and is caught up in a ninja war with another school from Kazeto's neighboring city, Mizudai.
A game of the anime was released, named Ninja Gakuen Taisen: Shinobi Rantō.
Plot[]
Raidou Fuma the a new transfer student to the ninja academy of Kazeto, but as soon he got there, he was attacked by a ninja named Kasumi Hattori, who suspected him as a spy from Mizudai. Once Kasumi had thought Raidou had fallen off a cliff and into a river, she had left back to Kazeto Academy, but had no idea that Raidou was still alive and was actually hanging on a branch with his sword. After getting to the academy three minutes late, he was introduced to his new class and then Kasumi had bursted out that he was a spy from Mizudai but was laughed at by most of the class. After finishing his tour of the dorms, he had tripped and accidentally bumped into Kasumi, knocking her down and then noticed that Kasumi was a cute girl. Waking up from the knock down, Kasumi had noticed that Raidou was touching her breast and had then tried to kill him again. Now as Raidou's new school life starts, he is stuck in a rival school war and a roomate that wants to kill him.
Kazeto Ninja Academy[]
Kazeto Academy is a school that trains ninjas from brand new ninjas to jonin level ninjas. It is has dorms for students who want to live on campus, but the dorms are smalled and also mixed due to the amount of students who live off campus. Dorm roomates are also mixed due to the same reason. Kazeto Academy has a rivalry with Mizudai Academy that had lasted since the 15th century when the schools were created. The rivalry's beginning was forgotten into history during the 18th century, but the fights had still continued for another 300 years to modern day.

Raidou Fuma[]
- The descendent of the legendary ninja of Koga, Kotaro Fuma. He is a quiet person who doesn't talk much and likes to wear a black hat and carry around his katana, Kage no Gaka (meaning: Painter of Shadows). He is often told by people that he doesn't have much of a personality but is very caring of others and respects many people. He cannot swim but he could hold his breath underwater the longest out of all the other students of Kazeto Academy. He is an iaido swordsman and illusion prodigy. He is voiced by Daisuke Namikawa.
Kasumi Hattori[]
- The descendent of the legendary ninja of Iga, Hanzo Hattori. She is often mistaken to be a boy due to the way she dresses but hates to be considered a tomboy. She wears a white and blue cap and a red scarf to hide her face from people, mainly enemies. She uses a dual-shuriken yo-yo as her primary weapon and often uses it to trick her opponents. She is a short girl who wishes to become taller and have bigger breasts because many people often mistakens her for a little boy. She is voiced by Rie Kugimiya.

Hayate Shiranui[]
- The head-ninja of Mizudai Academy. He is the only living person who knows the history of why Kazeto and Mizudai are rivals, so he hates Kazeto because of it. He wishes for the destruction of Kazeto and for Mizudai to have the greatest warriors of all time. He is voiced by Unshō Ishizuka.
