The Power of Love (パワー·オブ·ラヴ) is a romance movie based on a manga written and illustrated by IchokaSuzumi666. It is said to air on Totally Anime Channel.
Plot[]
Kyonko Asakura, after leaving her little sister with a babysitter, hurries to her first day of her senior year of high school. Not long after thinking that her parents, who died a year ago, were wrong about her popularity, she runs into a Mexican boy, and it's love at first sight for her. Kyonko tells the boy that she thinks he'll probably tell her that she's ugly, but the boy, whose name is Alejandro Rodriguez, says that this is not true and confesses his love towards her. Kyonko asks if it's okay if she calls him "Al-kun," and Alejandro says it's okay as long as they go out. Kyonko says yes, and they hurry to school. However, when they get there, their classmates ignore them for some reason. Later, at lunch, Etsuko Komusome, who is prejudiced against Mexicans, yells at Kyonko for dating Alejandro, but Kyonko tries to explain that Alejandro is a nice guy. (By the way, basically nobody in the 3rd year at Retasu High brings lunch to school. They all eat in the cafeteria) That's when Alejandro shows up, and Etsuko begins to yell at him. Kyonko, attempting to stop him from listening to Etsuko, runs up to Alejandro and kisses him. Then, she asks him to call her just "Kyonko" instead of "Asakura-san." Etsuko then hatches up a plan to break the new couple up. She barges into Principal Midori's office later, asking him to make a rule that Mexicans can't come to the school. When Principal Midori declines, Etsuko hypnotized him with a watch.
During class, Alejandro, along with Haruki Melendez and Aya Hernandez, is called to the principal's office. Before he leaves, Kyonko assures him that things will be all right. Despite this, Principal Midori announces that they're suspended from Retasu High. When Alejandro walks out, he finds Kyonko waiting for him, and he says that they need to talk. Meanwhile, Etsuko reveals her evil plan is revenge for being dumped by Haruki as a freshman.
Kyonko had listened to every word Alejando had said as they walk home from school. Alejandro admits that he and Kyonko should break up, due to the fact that his parents will send him away if he's kicked out of Retasu High. When they arrive at Alejandro's house, they kiss goodbye. Kyonko runs home, crying, and ends up crying on her pillow. Then, she has a dream that she and Alejandro were reunited ("Shiroi Honoo" was playing). In her dream, Kyonko and Alejandro were kissing, but in the real world, she wakes up the next day to discover she was kissing her pillow. Then, she gets a phone call from Aya, being told that Alejandro was kidnapped. Leaving Stacey with a their neighbors, the Kusas, she meets Aya at the park. Aya reveals that she snuck a tracking device on the bag Alejandro was in, and her plan was to track Etsuko down. Kyonko, at first, doubts that her plan wll work, but it eventually works. Alejandro tries to break outf the bag, but it's no use. That's when Kyonko admits that she is not a human; she is a Love Bleeder, whose leg bleeds when away from her lover. She eventually faints from a fever, which causes Alejandro to break free frm the bag and catch her.
Etsuko sends Principal Midori, who is revealed to Alejandro and Aya to be hypnotized. Meanwhile, Chiyoko Kimochi, Kyonko, Alejandro and Etsuko's teacher, senses that Principal Midori is in trouble, and reveals her past, in which she wanted to be a singer and he would always come in to see her sing. They meet, and become a couple.
Kimochi-sensei, remembering the song she used to sing, runs to Principal Midori's rescue. Meanwhile, Alejandro leaves in order to take Kyonko to the hospital, leaving Aya with no defense against Etsuko. At least, that's what she thinks. Kimochi-sensei shows up, singing "Love Deterrence". Principal Midori remembers her, and snaps out of the hypnosis. Then, he begins to dig through his pockets, with Etsuko looking at him weirdly.
At the hospital, Alejandro is looking after Kyonko when the nurse comes in. She tells him that the blood she is about to inject Kyonko with will turn her back into a human, but he should spend some time with her anyway. Meanwhile, Principal Midori finds a wedding ring in his pockets and proposes to Kimochi-sensei. Rather surprised, she accepts. That's when Kyonko, along with Alejandro, shows up and congratulates them. Etsuko, with a dark aura around her, announces that she will defeat them. Not long after, she transforms into a dark magical girl with a black battlesuit, known throughout Retasu City as the "Black Beauty." Etsuko explains that she was a Love Bleeder, and she lost blood after Haruki dumped her. It's also revealed that Etsuko was the person who donated the LB blood to Kyonko, but now she regrets it since she's dating Alejandro. Alejandro promises to Kyonko that he'll protect her, but his way of protecting her was sacrificing himself when she was about to be hit by a attack called "Fistful of Hate", courtesy of Etsuko. Etsuko declares that she won't miss the next time she launches the attack, and that's when Haruki shows up.
Haruki explains about his mother being prejudiced against Japanese, and she will take him back to Mexico with her. But Haruki had convinced his mother to let him stay in Japan with his father. He then apologizes to Etsuko and confesses his love towards her. Etsuko forgives him, and sings "KISS KISS KISS." After the song, she kisses him, and her battlesuit turns pink. Kyonko, on the other hand, tries to wake Alejandro up. Eventually, he does....as a monster! Etsuko also mentions that Fistful of Hate turns people evil.
Etsuko tells Kyonko that Alejandro will kill everyone in Retasu City if they don't do something, and Aya, Principal Midori, and Kimochi-sensei agree. Haruki asks Etsuko if he could fight by her side, and she agrees. And that's when Stacey shows up, explaining that she saw a news report saying that Alejandro is on a rampage. She couldn't let her sister suffer, so she went to help her, even after Daisuke Kusa, her best friend, asks her not to go.
It turns out, there was no fighting needed. Kyonko just says that she loves him, and gives him permission that he can call her "Asakura-san" again, and Alejandro was just a normal boy again. They kiss, and Alejandro then remembers that he needs to leave in just a couple of days, but Principal Midori says that he, Aya, and Haruki are all welcome back to Retasu High.
At the end of the year, at the graduation ceremony, Kyonko decides to sing for everyone. A classmate, Emiri, plays the violin, and Kyonko sings "Heartful Song." As he watches her sing, Alejandro realizes that one of the reasons he loves her is that she sings beautifully. After the song, the crowd cheers, and everyone leaves, with Kyonko and Alejandro walking together happily.
Development[]
The author wanted to draw a manga after learning to draw a manga eye. She created Kyonko (who was unnamed at that point), and then she thought, Why not pair this girl up with a guy from another country, and someone else turns against them, but the girl saves him? So The Power of Love was born. Later, she decides to make a movie out of it.
